Magnetic Cat Doors
Magnetic cat doors use a magnet to keep the flap sealed against the
frame
If you find getting up and down all the time to let your pet outside, then you might want to
consider investing in one or more of some type of magnetic cat doors. There are different brands of these
doors. There are petsafe, petco and others.
There are different kinds of magnetic cat doors.
First there is the standard cat door that consists of a flap that can be
pushed open by your pet. This standard magnetic cat door has a hinge at the top and a magnetic strip around
the other 3 sides. After your feline pushed the flap open and gets through it, the flap falls back and sticks
via the magnetic strips. This will keep the bugs and some of the outside air out.
The next kind of magnetic cat doors are those that are automated. This cat
door will only open for your cat. How does the door only open for your pet? Your cat has to have a
collar or some other type of device on it to signal the door to open. When the pet door receives this signal
it either lets the cat push it open, or it opens autmatically. These types of automated magnetic cat doors
will not only let your pet in and out, but also keep unwanted animals out. Raccoons and possums are good at
finding there way into houses where they can forage for food. You do not want to be surprised in the morning
by a raccoon sitting on your kitchen table having its breakfast.
Since these flaps are kept closed with a magnet, they are safer for your
pet. Your cat will not get trapped or stuck in the door. It can make it through the magnetic cat
doors without any problem, even if it decides to stop and stand there for a while and just look to see what is
outside.
